Portsmouth

The passenger terminal at Portsmouth International Port, which opened in May 2011, offers the modern high standards and style of an airport terminal, with none of the queues and baggage hassles of flying. A full-height concourse contains check-in desks and the arrival/departure area. The mezzanine floor has a bar/café, with views over the concourse and an outdoor observation balcony overlooking the Port.

 

New drop-off areas and roads improve access to and from the terminal, which has a modern glass and stone façade and room for 2,400 passengers.

Please Note: Once you have completed the check-in process and passed through security you will be taken by bus to Astoria.

By Road

From London: From London, take the M3 or A3. From the Midlands take the M3 to the A34, and from the South West take the A31. From Bristol and South Wales take the A36. These roads lead to the M275, from which an exit road leads directly to the port – signposted Cross-Channel Ferries.

From the North and the Midlands: Take the M6 south, merging onto the M42 close to Birmingham then the M40. At junction 10 of the M40, take the A34 south to Winchester, where you join the M3 towards Southampton. Close to Southampton, merge onto the M27 towards Portsmouth, then the M275 clearly signposted for Cross-Channel Ferries.

From Wales: Take the A30 from Exeter heading east, then the A30, A35 and A31 past Lyme Regis and Dorchester towards Southampton. Close to Southampton join the M27 towards Portsmouth, then the M275 clearly signposted for Cross-Channel Ferries

From the West Country: Take the A30 from Exeter heading east, then the A30, A35 and A31 past Lyme Regis and Dorchester towards Southampton. Close to Southampton join the M27 towards Portsmouth, then the M275 clearly signposted for Cross-Channel Ferries

 

Car Parking

CPS Valet Services in conjunction with Cruise and Maritime Voyages are pleased to offer to park at Portsmouth in the designated multi-storey car park. CPS offers a "meet and greet" service at the terminal where they will park your car for you or, alternatively you can drive to the car park and just walk the short distance back to the terminal. Please drive to the terminal to drop your luggage off before parking.

There are frequent train services between Portsmouth and London Waterloo, the journey takes 85 minutes. Your destination stations are "Portsmouth & Southsea", a short bus or taxi ride from the Port. For the latest train times please visit: South West Trains.

The Port Passenger Terminal is approximately 48 miles (60 minutes’ drive) from Bournemouth Airport and approximately 22 miles (30 minutes' drive) from Southampton Airport, which are well connected both domestically and internationally.

Poole Port Information

The Port of Poole Cruise facility is located within the main Passenger Terminal building. The area is used to facilitate the embarkation and disembarkation of cruise passengers. The Passenger Terminal is 1.5 miles from Poole Train Station and access is via the main port entrance at New Quay Road. The Passenger Terminal offers amenities including a seated waiting area, cafe and toilets.

Please Note: Once you have completed the check-in process and passed through security you will be taken by bus to Astoria. Passengers are not permitted to walk within the Port Area.

Poole is linked by the A31 to the M27, and from there to the M3 and on to London. The A350 runs north to Bristol and the A35 to Dorchester and Exeter. When in Poole, drivers are advised to head to the town centre and follow signs to the port.

 

By Road

When in Poole, follow the road signs to the port. There are two bridges in operation in Poole which are open at different times. Please follow the advice on the variable message signs situated along the approach roads.

 

Poole Bridge

After crossing Poole Bridge you will come to a mini roundabout. Take the first exit (turn left) onto New Quay Road and proceed for 150 metres before turning right on to New Harbour Road, crossing railway lines. At the next mini roundabout take the second exit (Straight Ahead). The public car park is immediately on your right. The Passenger Terminal is directly ahead of you at the bottom of the road on the left (50m from the carpark).

 

Twin Sails Bridge

After crossing Twin Sails Bridge, follow the road until you reach traffic lights (keeping in the left lane). Turn left on to Blandford Road and continue to the mini roundabout, taking the second exit (Straight ahead) on to New Quay Road. Proceed for 150 metres before turning right on to New Harbour Road, crossing railway lines. At the next mini roundabout take the second exit (Straight Ahead). The public car park is immediately on your right. The Passenger Terminal is directly ahead of you at the bottom of the road on the left (50m from the carpark).

 

From London:

Leave the M3 and proceed westbound on the M27 towards Bournemouth. At the end of the M27 continue heading West on the A31 towards Bournemouth. Follow the A31 and then the A341. Head South on the A341 following the signposts to the Port. (Follow A341, A349 and A350 and then follow directions from the bridges above).

 

From the West (Dorchester):

Follow the A35 eastbound to the Bere Regis roundabout (Shell garage) taking the second exit. At the next roundabout (1/2 mile) take the first exit (turn left) and continue along the A35 towards Poole. The A35 becomes the A350, and at the roundabout with a small blue fishing boat in the middle, take the third exit (turn right) onto A350 and follow signs for the port, crossing either bridge as shown above (bridges are approximately 2 miles from the A350 roundabout).

 

Car Parking

The Port of Poole offers secure car parking facilities close to the Passenger Terminal. On arrival at the port, drive to the Passenger Terminal where your luggage will be collected by the baggage porter’s to be taken directly through security and onto the ship. Once your luggage has been collected you will be given directions to the car park. Please ensure that you keep your car parking ticket secure as you will need this on your return. On return to your vehicle please use the pay stations situated in the car park near to the passenger terminal building. The machines accept either cash or cards.

By Road

There are several ways to approach the port by road:

From the M11

Leave at Junction 8 and join the A120 eastwards, heading for Braintree and Colchester. 

From the M25

Take the A12 at Junction 28 (signposted Chelmsford) and then join the A120 at Colchester, after approximately 30 miles.

From the A14:

Take the A12 at Ipswich and join the A120 at Colchester. In all cases at Colchester take the A120 signed Harwich (not London Stansted). On approaching Harwich, follow signs for Harwich International Port.

 

On Arrival

The port is clearly signposted so that visitors can navigate the port and find their destination easily.

 

Car Parking

Passengers departing from Harwich on cruise ships should follow signage to the designated car park. Under normal circumstances, staff will be available within the car park to direct you and provide assistance with your baggage. A courtesy bus is provided to make the short (5 minute) transfer to the cruise terminal.

 

By Air

London Stansted Airport is within easy reach of Harwich (50 minutes by car or taxi), with Heathrow and Gatwick airports just 2 hours’ drive away.

Bristol Portbury

The Bristol Portbury Cruise Terminal is a temporary Marquee structure located within the industrial port area. The Cruise facility is approximately 8 miles from Bristol City Centre and access is via the main port entrance at Royal Portbury Docks. There will be limited facilities within the port and we would ask passengers to arrive at their allotted time where possible.

 

Please note the Port Authorities do not allow passengers to walk from the Royal Portbury Dock Entrance all passengers must arrive by some form of transport.

By Road

From M5 (South): Exit M5 Southbound at Junction 19 and follow the signs for Royal Portbury Dock. Having taken the exit slip road at Junction 19 move into the right-hand section of road as indicated. Take the 5th exit off the roundabout signposted to Royal Portbury Dock. Continue straight, at the second roundabout take the 3rd exit into Royal Portbury Dock – continue straight to the Police Gate.

From M5 (North): Exit M5 Northbound at Junction 19 and follow signs for Royal Portbury Dock. Having taken the exit slip road at Junction 19 move into the left-hand section of road. Take the second exit off the roundabout. Continue straight, at the second roundabout take the 3rd exit into Royal Portbury Dock – continue straight to the Police Gate.

 

Car Parking

The Bristol Port Company offers secure car parking facilities within the Royal Portbury Dock. Car parking must be pre-booked with your tour operator or travel agent. On arrival at the port, pass through the police gate and take the 4th exit off the roundabout. The ship will not be on your left-hand side. Drive straight ahead, over 1 x small roundabout and then take the 2nd exit on the right and drive up the hill. Exact drop off location will be signposted and at the top of the hill.

On arrival at the car park, your luggage will be taken from you and delivered to the ship (via screening). A shuttle bus will then take you to the Cruise Marquee facility for check-in. Please ensure that the Car Park Permit is clearly displayed in the windscreen of your vehicle before leaving your vehicle. The Car Parking permit will be included in your Final Cruise Documentation Pack.

 

Pick up & Drop Off

Pass through the police gate and take the 3rd exit off the roundabout immediately ahead. Take the first right 20ft past the roundabout and then take the 2nd left, immediately after the large shed. You will then see the ship on the berth to your right. Drop Off / Pick Up will be by the Marquee Terminal in front of you, please be directed by a member of the Cruise Operations Team.

 

Transfer from Bristol Temple Meads Railway Station

If you have booked the transfer from Bristol Temple Meads Train Station, please note this is operated by the local Bus Service – First Buses.

This service is un-escorted and will depart from the bus stop at the time stipulated on your tickets. When you exit the station please walk along the right-hand pavement for approx. 80 yards where you will find the bus stop, the bus will be clearly marked with CMV Magellan.

Bristol Temple Meads is 6.5 miles from the terminal, whilst Bristol Parkway is 10 miles. Both are well connected and have taxi ranks. Please note if you travel to any other train station close to the port there are very limited taxi services. If you have pre-booked the coach service from the Train Station to the Cruise Facility this will be noted on your tickets. This service is operated by First Buses Bristol and the bus can be located to the right- hand side of the train station where the buses are parked. The bus will not be on site until approximately 10 minutes before the departure time.

The Bristol Cruise Terminal is approx 13 miles (25 minutes) drive from Bristol Airport which is well connected both domestically and internationally.

Dundee Port Information

The Port of Dundee is a gateway to the historic City of Dundee, Angus, Fife (St Andrews), Perthshire and the Trossachs and is located close next to City Quay and the rejuvenated Dundee Waterfront.

Please note all passengers must report to the specially designated ‘Cruise Traffic’ area at East Camperdown Street, Dundee.

Passengers being dropped off at the Port: Passengers should be aware that the Dundee Cruise Terminal is located within the secure port facility. Independent passengers arriving at the port should follow the signs for the ‘Cruise Traffic’ area. From this area passengers’ main luggage will be taken from them and delivered directly to the vessel – please ensure that all large pieces of luggage are clearly identified with the labels provided with your tickets. Spare tickets will be available at the port on arrival.

 

By Road

From M90 (the South): Travel on the M9 to Perth. Proceed on the dual carriageway A90 to Dundee. On approaching Dundee, there is a roundabout at the Double Tree Hotel (Double Tree Hotel is on your left) take the third exit marked to the City Centre and Airport (A85). Continue on A85 past the airport and continue, passing Tesco on your left Approaching traffic lights at railway station, you will see Discovery Point on your right, continue on A92 along Dock Street to traffic lights, Turn right onto W Victoria Dock Road, signposted Apex Hotel/City Quay, then left onto Camperdown Street, Dundee DD1 3LG continue along this road until you reach the manned security barrier (operational - 2 hrs prior to embarkation and up to 30mins before sailing) Security Personnel will direct you from there.

From A90 (the North): Travel on the A90 to Dundee, straight through first set of traffic lights. At 2nd set of traffic lights turn left onto Kingsway sign posted Harbour. Go straight through 2 roundabouts, at 3rd roundabout take 4th exit onto Greendykes Road, sign posted Harbour. Follow road down through 1 roundabout, then straight through traffic lights onto Broughty Ferry Road.

Keep in left lane, as you will need to take a slip road as you are going round the next bend. At the bottom of the hill, take a sharp left, over the rail bridge, down to small roundabout, veer to the right continue follow the signs 'Cruise Traffic' along East Camperdown Street and you will be met by Security Personnel.

Dundee Railway Station is approximately 1.5 miles from the Passenger Arrivals Area. On foot – turn left on exit and follow the hoardings round until you see Malmaison Hotel. East Gate port entrance located off Rover Way (follow the routing to the port entrance and avoid turning left into the South Point estate)

Please note: The Cruise terminal is located within the secure port estate and passengers are not permitted to walk from the port entrance to the cruise terminal. On entry to the port, the guard at the security gate will provide you with further information. Directions to the cruise terminal will also be clearly signposted across the port estate. The West gate entrance will not be an accessible entry point.

 

By Road

From the West (heading Eastbound on the M4): Leave the M4 at junction 33 and head towards Cardiff on the A4232, passing over the Cardiff Bay overpass and through the Bute town tunnels.  You will eventually reach a roundabout. Take the second exit (straight) onto the Eastern Bay link road, you will reach another roundabout, take the second (right) turning onto a small link roundabout, take the second exit (right) where signs to the 'docks' will take you to the port entrance. Enter the port via the East Gate.

From the East (heading Westbound on the M4): Leave the M4 at junction 29 to join Eastern Avenue (A48). Follow signs for Rover Way (A4232) and continue on this road ensuring to remain on the “Docks” assigned lane. Pass over three roundabouts’ until the 4th roundabout will have its first exit marked as Cardiff Docks.  Enter the port via the East Gate.

Car Parking

Car parking must be pre-booked with your tour operator or travel agent. The Car Parking permit will be included in your Final Cruise Documentation Pack, please ensure the Car Park Permit is clearly displayed in the windscreen of your vehicle before leaving your vehicle. Once you have parked your car your luggage will be taken by the porters directly to the ship. Parking will be allocated on-site in a secure facility adjacent to the Cruise Terminal.

Cardiff Central Station is Cardiff’s main railway station with direct trains towards West Wales, London, the Midlands, and the Southern English Coast. Taxis will be situated outside the train station for onwards travel. The train station is approx. 2 miles away from the ports East Gate entrance.

Taxis are permitted to enter the port estate and must follow the same security procedure as cars.

Tyne (Newcastle) Port Information

The Port of Tyne is a deep river port and lies on the North Bank of the Tyne River 10 miles east of the city centre of Newcastle. As the North East’s regional gateway, there are over 625,000 cruise and ferry passengers passing through the Port of Tyne every year. The modern Cruise Terminal offers excellent facilities including a secure car park within walking distance, a large 700 seat passenger lounge with modern check in facilities, a small shop and Bistro.

The port is directly linked to the national motorway network slowing easy access by road from all parts of the UK.

From (North): Follow the A1/A19 towards North Shields A187. Follow the signs to Coble Dene/Northumbrian Quay and then the International Passenger Terminal.

From (South): Follow the A19/A194(M) through the Tyne Tunnel and then turn east along the A187 following the signs Coble Dene/Northumbrian Quay and then the International Passenger Terminal.

 

Car Parking

The Port of Tyne offers secure car parking for passengers just minutes walk from the International Passenger Terminal. On entering the car park there is a barrier which will provide you with a ticket on entry. Please take this ticket with you and do not leave in your car. When you arrive back from your cruise a car park attendant will be on hand for exiting the car park. Car parking must be pre-booked with your tour operator or travel agent. Please ensure that the Car Park Permit is clearly displayed in the windscreen of your vehicle before leaving your vehicle. The Car Parking permit will be included in your Final Cruise Documentation Pack.

By Metro

The International Ferry Terminal is approximately 9 miles (14 ½ km) to the East of Newcastle. If you are travelling at other times of day, then you can get the Metro to Northumberland Park, Percy Main or North Shields Stations and catch Go North East bus 19 connections from there to Royal Quays Shopping Outlet, which is near to the Ferry Terminal. Percy Main is the closest Metro station to the Ferry Terminal (20 minutes walk), although it is better to take the bus connection from here if you have luggage. The Bristol Cruise Terminal is a designated facility within the industrial port area to facilitate the embarkation and disembarkation of cruise passengers. The Cruise Terminal is 6 miles from Bristol City Centre and access is via the main port entrance at West Town Police Gate. The Cruise Terminal offers limited amenities including a seated waiting area, cafe and toilets.

By Road

From Bristol: Head to Avonmouth on the A4 (Portway). At the Park & Ride, turn left onto West Town Road and follow signs to the ‘Docks’. This leads on to Victoria Road and will bring you to the Police Gate and entry to the Avonmouth Dock.

From M5 (South): Leave the M5 at junction 18, joining M5 spur road towards ‘A4, A403, Bristol, Avonmouth Docks’. Keep left and at Portway roundabout take the second exit onto the A4 ‘City Centre/Bristol Airport’. At the set of traffic lights turn right onto West Town Road to ‘Park & Ride, Avonmouth Docks’. This leads on to Victoria Road and will bring you to the Police Gate and entry to the Avonmouth Dock.

From M5 (North): Leave the M5 at junction 18, bear right onto M5 spur road to ‘Avonmouth, Bristol Airport A4’. Keep left and at Portway roundabout take the second exit onto the A4 ‘City Centre/Bristol Airport’. At the set of traffic lights turn right onto West Town Road to ‘Park & Ride, Avonmouth Docks’. This leads on to Victoria Road and will bring you to the Police Gate and entry to the Avonmouth Dock.

On entry to the Dock: Go approximately 100m and turn left following signs to the Cruise Terminal. Follow the road for about 0.8 miles (with the river Avon on your left) and you will reach the Car Park and Drop off Point on the right.

 

Car Parking

The Bristol Port Company offers secure car parking facilities close to the Cruise Terminal. Car parking must be pre-booked with your tour operator or travel agent. On arrival at the port, drive to the Cruise Terminal where your luggage will be collected by the baggage porter’s to be taken directly through security and onto the ship. Once your luggage has been collected you will be given directions to the car park. Please ensure that the Car Park Permit is clearly displayed in the windscreen of your vehicle before leaving your vehicle. The Car Parking permit will be included in your Final Cruise Documentation Pack.

If you have booked the transfer from Bristol Temple Meads Train Station, please note this is operated by the local Bus Service – First Buses.
This service is un-escorted and will depart from the bus stop at the time stipulated on your tickets. When you exit the station please walk along the right-hand pavement for approx. 80 yards where you will find the bus stop, the bus will be clearly marked with CMV Marco Polo.

Liverpool Port Information

Liverpool Cruise Terminal has a reputation as one of the most desirable cruise destinations in Europe.   • Should you arrive before the disembarkation is complete then you may be asked to use one of the nearby cafes, restaurants and bars located directly adjacent to the cruise terminal on Pier Head until Embarkation can commence.

Leave the M6 at junction 21A, and take the M62 towards Liverpool until you reach the end, keeping directly ahead for the A5080. Continue on this road until it merges into the A5047, following signs to Liverpool City Centre, Albert Dock and Central Tourist Attractions. Follow the brown signs on the arterial routes for ‘Liverpool and/or Waterfront’ until you reach The Liver Building. ‘Liverpool Cruise Terminal’ is easily identifiable at this point.

Independent passengers arriving at the port should follow the yellow signs for Liverpool Cruise Terminal. Once at the baggage drop area, porters will take all large items of luggage for direct delivery to the vessel – please ensure that all large pieces of luggage are clearly identified with the labels provided with your tickets. The Cruise Passenger Lounge is adjacent to the baggage drop off area. Once you have checked in, there is a walk to the vessel of approximately 200 metres from the vessel along a covered walkway, which can be steep depending on the level of the tide.

 

Car Parking

Please make your way directly to the Liverpool Cruise Terminal where your luggage will be taken by the porters taken through security and then onto the ship where they will be waiting for you outside your cabin.  

Once your luggage has been dropped off please make your way to the CPS Car Park, 3 Kings, Dock Street, L1 8JU.  The car park is about one mile from the terminal and takes about 10-15 minutes to drive between the two locations depending on traffic.   Once you have parked your car you will be taken back to the cruise terminal by the shuttle service.

Parking at Fremantle

Due to operational and security requirements, the parking area in front of the Fremantle Passenger Terminal building has been designated for the convenience of passengers for set down and pick-up only.

Overnight parking is not available in front of the Passenger Terminal. Any vehicle left unattended after the sailing of a cruise vessel will be subject to an immediate fine and may be towed.

Overnight and short-stay parking (up to 14 days) is available on Victoria Quay near C and D Sheds, costing only $6 per day. You will need to pay ahead for the number of days when you park. The parking ticket machines take credit cards or coins (not notes).

This parking is not undercover nor is it secure.

Cruise passengers seeking secure, undercover, long-term parking can park at Queensgate Car Park, in Henderson St, Fremantle (opposite the Police Station). Passengers will need to park on the third or fourth floor and pre-pay.

Hull Port Information

The Port of Hull lies on the north bank of the River Humber some 30 kilometres, approx 18.5 miles from the mouth of the estuary. The port area comprises over 800 hectares and extends along 11km of the waterfront.

Please note that all passengers must enter the port at the Northern Gateway. On arrival at the Port of Hull staff will direct you to either the Passenger Arrivals Area or the designated Car Park. From here you will be taken by shuttle bus to the Cruise Terminal.

 

By Road

From North and West: Follow either the M62 or A1079 to the A63 and Hull city centre. Follow signs for the docks (Queen Elizabeth Dock) and enter via the Eastern Access Security Control Gate (A1033).

From South: Follow the A15 across the Humber Bridge and then turn east along the A63 Hull city centre and follow the signs for the docks (Queen Elizabeth Dock) and enter via the Eastern Access Security Control Gate (A1033).

London Tilbury Port Information

Tilbury became the only port in the Port of London Authority to serve cruise liners from 1916. With the need for expanded facilities, a large new passenger landing stage was constructed in the Thames with rail connections in May 1930. In 1992 the port was privatised to be part of the Forth Ports organisation that is currently restoring the Grade II Listed terminal to its former glory.

Many people who embarked on to ships such as RMS Mooltan from Tilbury set off for a new life in Australia during the 1960’s and was known as the 'Ten Pound Poms'.

The London Cruise Terminal at Tilbury, Essex is situated on the River Thames just 25 miles east of London. Approximate journey times in good traffic conditions from central London and London City Airport is one hour, from London Gatwick Airport and from London Stansted Airport is one hour fifteen minutes and from London Heathrow allow two hours.

The London Cruise Terminal at Tilbury, Essex is situated on the River Thames just 25 miles east of London. Approximate journey times in good traffic conditions from central London and London City Airport is one hour, from London Gatwick Airport and from London Stansted Airport is one hour fifteen minutes and from London Heathrow allow two hours.

From the West: Leave the M25 at Junction 30 and follow the A13 eastbound (Tilbury and Southend). Take the A1089 (third exit off the A13) which is dual carriageway, to the ASDA roundabout. The third exit off the roundabout and keep in the left hand lane, you will pass the Railway station on the left, keep heading over the first mini roundabout and turn right at the second mini roundabout. (The London Cruise Terminal will be seen immediately in front of you at this point.) Immediately off the roundabout bear sharp left.

From the East: Follow the A13 towards the M25 and leave the A1089 exit and continue as above.
