Important News Update for Azores!

Important News Update for Azores!

MV Azores was originally scheduled to arrive in Bristol Avonmouth on Wednesday 25th February at the end of her Voyage to the West Indies. However due to adverse weather and sea conditions during the homeward sector of the Atlantic voyage, we took the precautionary decision to divert the ship for an un-scheduled call in Lisbon until conditions improved. Azores will now arrive back in the UK at an estimated 14.00hrs on Friday, 27th February based on the cruise terminating in Portland due to very tight tidal restrictions at Avonmouth.

This weather related force majeure event which is beyond our control has consequently meant a one day delay to the start of the Land of the Northern Lights cruise due to depart from Bristol Avonmouth on Thursday, 26th February, with a resulting port of departure change to Portland. The current forecast en-route to Norway at the start of the cruise via an easterly English Channel and North Sea passage from the UK is more favourable and Portland is geographically much better positioned to take advantage of this routing.

Azores will now be sailing from Portland at 20.00hrs on Friday, 27th February 2015 based on a revised itinerary. The call at Trondheim has been replaced by Alesund and Andalsnes by Tobermory en-route back to the UK. It has also been necessary to cancel the viewing of Svartisen Glacier as this is now not possible during daylight hours.

Complimentary coaches have been arranged to transport passengers and their luggage from Bristol Avonmouth to Portland. M.V Azores will be returning back to Bristol Avonmouth as scheduled but a day later on Saturday 14th March 2015.
