CMV Cruise Suspensions

Due to the continued global pandemic outbreak of COVID-19 (coronavirus), government restrictions still in force, and the lockdown of many countries and ports around the world, Cruise & Maritime Voyages (CMV) announced on 7 May at 19:30 (GMT) that it will further extend the suspension of all of its worldwide cruises, from May 25 to June 30 2020.

This will apply to CMV cruises across the globe, and all affected passengers are being contacted with an offer of compensation which includes a future cruise credit to the value of 125% of their cruise fare*. Cruise & Maritime Voyages is Britain and Australia’s leading, privately-owned independent cruise line and together with its sister brand, TransOcean Kreuzfahrten in Germany, is a business built on solid foundations with a huge and loyal customer base and valued international travel trade support.

“Due to this fast-evolving global pandemic, we are still unable to perform our scheduled itineraries and to deliver the travel experience normally enjoyed by our valued passengers,” said CEO Christian Verhounig.

“We have therefore taken the decision to temporarily further suspend all cruises until 30th June 2020, when we very much hope to be able to resume service.”

View Mr Verhounig's full statement below.

The cruise line’s top and overriding priority throughout the pandemic has been the health and safety of passengers and crew. The suspension was first introduced on March 14, and all CMV cruises have now been suspend for nearly three and a half months. All of the ships in CMV’s global fleet have returned to their home ports in the UK & Germany, and there have been no cases of COVID-19 on any of CMV’s ships.

“We thank our guests and travel agent partners for their tremendous support and patience through this period,” said Dean Brazier, Managing Director of Cruise & Maritime Voyages Australia.

“We look forward to resuming service again later this year and once again giving our guests the privilege of travel, especially to the regions in Australia that have been so affected by absence of tourism, due to the pandemic as well as the bushfires.”

CMV continue at present to employ shipboard officers and crew members throughout this suspension period, and the cruise line is looking forward to welcoming all guests back on board as soon as travel is encouraged.

In light of the extended suspension of cruises, CMV has also extended its Peace of Mind Booking Guarantee to allow guests to postpone their holiday and receive additional benefits. The policy offers guests with existing bookings on cruises scheduled to depart before August 31 2020 the option to transfer fee-free and receive up to a 125% future cruise credit.

All travellers affected by this announcement will be contacted with their offer of compensation, which will include a future cruise credit of 125% of the value of their cruise. This credit can be used against the best deal of the day including the current 2021 Buy One Get One Free Offers.

The future cruise credit can be used to purchase any cruises currently featured in CMV’s 2020 & 2021 cruise programs, as well as any yet-to-be-released cruises departing in 2022 and must be booked by 31 December 2020. Cruise & Maritime Voyages' Adelaide-based office and sales teams will continue to be available during this time to assist guests and agents affected by the suspension as well as to make new bookings and service existing bookings.

Currently all upcoming CMV cruises scheduled to depart after 30 June 2020 will be operating as normal and there are no itinerary changes.

In the event of any new itinerary or operational changes for sailings, affected passengers will be contacted as a matter of urgency by CMV or their travel agent.

We are currently experiencing higher than usual enquiries. In light of this, our customer services teams are firstly working to assist passengers who are due to cruise in the next 14 days.

If you are not due to cruise within the next 14 days and your query is not urgent we would appreciate you waiting and contacting us closer to your cruise.
