CMV Cares

At Cruise & Maritime Voyages, we are committed to supporting the destinations we visit and giving back to the communities that make our voyages so memorable, which is why we run a range of initiatives to raise funds for relief efforts and charitable causes, where possible.

Australian Bushfire Relief Appeal

Dec 2019: With large parts of Australia are being devastated by some of the worst bushfires in recent history, in December, Cruise & Maritime Voyages started an appeal on the voyage from Auckland to Adelaide to raise funds for Australian Red Cross and their disaster relief efforts. Initiating the contributions with a $1,000 donation, Cruise & Maritime Voyages subsequently matched guest donations dollar for dollar with the final figure totalling $10,070.

“We were absolutely blown away by the benevolence of our guests, who helped make a difference to those battling to protect their homes, families and livelihoods,” said Dean Brazier, Managing Director of Cruise & Maritime Voyages Australia. "The generosity of Vasco da Gama’s guests has made a difference to those in need across Australia and CMV is thankful to our guests for contributing to make such a meaningful impact."

Jan 2019: As a show of continued solidarity for those still battling the blazes, Cruise & Maritime Voyages pledged $10 from every booking made during January and February to Australian Red Cross to support their aid and relief efforts in affected areas and to ensure that they can continue to respond to emergencies as they occur.

Jan 2019: Guests onboard our South Australian Icons cruise raised a further $747.55 for our Bushfire Relief Appeal.

CMV's Christmas Appeal

Dec 2019: To bring a bit of festive cheer to those in need, and to those cruising with CMV during the festive season, a Christmas tree was set up in the Port Adelaide Cruise Terminal. Guests and team members from the CMV Australia were invited to bring along a gift for someone in need in support of the Salvation Army’s work. When the Salvation Army arrived on Saturday 21 December to collect the donations, over 300 gifts were waiting under the tree to share.

Mark Foyle, The Salvation Army PR Secretary SA/NT, said, “We were very grateful to CMV and to their guests for donating gifts, which will make life a little bit brighter for those in their community facing hardship this Christmas. Bringing hope where it’s needed most.”

“It’s heartening to see that our guests are so aligned in giving back too – their kindness has blown us away,” said Mr Brazier, Managing Director of Cruise & Maritime Voyages Australia.
